About Us:

ukulele_classThe Music Makers is a performing group in Orange County California that is made up from the students in the Ukulele and Guitar classes. These classes are under the direction of Susan McCormick, who has taught music both in an educational environment and private since 1964. Susan is currently teaching Ukulele and Guitar for the Artesia Community Center, See Class Schedule below. The Music Makers perform for civic, school and private functions through out the year.guitar_class

The Ukulele group, E Mele Hana, performs with a hula group to provide both music and dancing for luaus and other events. The group performs Hawaiian as well as other genres of music.

The Guitar group, Rainbow Strummers, performs for various functions throughout the year. The Guitar group provides music, dancing and will often use instruments other than guitar. The perform music from all genres.

The music students take field trips to attend other musical events in the Southern California area. They have attended performances at the Hollywood Bowl, The Orange County Performing Arts Center, Cerritos Performing Arts Center and the La Mirada Civic Theater.

Classes: Day Time Location Level
The Ukulele Intermediate and Advanced classes are are taught at Artesia Community Center in Artesia, California. The class meets once a week within the Fall, Spring and Summer school schedules. The music is Hawaiian, Tin Pan Alley (1915 - 1930) and other song styles up to today. Students may use any type of Ukulele and must furnish their own instruments and tuner. Students will improve skills and prepare for performances within the Community.

Intermediate thru Advanced
The Guitar classes are taught thru at Artesia Community Center, Artesia, California. The classes meet once a week during the Fall, Spring and Summer school schedules.
Easy Intermediate (EI), You must know your basic chords. Your will learn bass runs, hammers, finger picking and arpeggios.
Intermediate Guitar (IG), For more difficult chords, songs, techniques and tablature. Students must furnish their own Guitar and tuner.
